one of the things I like about painting fruits and vegetables is the unlimited variation that’s inherent in the subject. While anyone can have an idea about what a potato or onion looks like, no 2 potatoes or onions are matching – however similar they might be. Add to this the apparently endless varieties of each vegetable type (there are 3 VERY different looking turnips in this design) and you really do end up with eternal variations. When observed intimately, the unique character of any living thing can be discovered.The painted vegetables and fruit that create this design come from two different paintings.
