While working on Family Play I did a great deal of shiny on the importance of healing our communities, and ourselves uniting for world peace and curative our planet. Natural butterfly painting

Looking good! I added the aerial, the final layers of burnt sienna to the dim area in the wings, filled in the blue gray wing drops at the bottom, and gave a final layer to the background to this custom-built butterfly painting.

Here is a bit of background information on this butterfly. It is actually moved by the Zodiac Moth, the only member of this genus of eleven day-flying species to occur in Australia. The wings are black with coppery green tones and purplish pink shimmering bands. I actually skipped the layers of green and alternated with layers of sienna to make a warmer look. The Zodiac is native to Papua New Guinea and northeastern Australia, except she is will be migrating to Michigan this year!

India’s old ancient paintings

Paintings in India have an extensive and glorious history. Some of the oldest works like those of Raja Ravi Varma have acquired antique status and are rarely in movement. Paintings have a number of variations and are valued world over.

The Cultural heritage of the nation itself being so very ancient and animated, it is only natural that art has flourished in this land for quite a few centuries. India boasts of world class painters in modern times too. For a broad classification, one can separate these works into murals and miniatures. Murals are the larger works originate on solid structures such as temples, palaces or caves. Some of these date back to 5500 BC. The paintings at Ajanta and Ellora are model examples of murals. Miniature paintings have largely been executed on perishable mediums like cloth or paper.

Dean of American Landscape Painters

Thomas Moran was born in Bolton, England, his family moved to America seeking economic opportunity in a new land. Moran became an apprentice at a Philadelphia engraving firm but later began working in the studio of his older brother who began to establish himself as a marine painter.

Moran had a life-long interest in the work of English artist J.M.W. Turner and was described by contemporaries as the "American Turner". His trip to Yellowstone in 1871 marked the turning point of his career. He continued to return to the Grand Canyon and more extensively in Arizona and New Mexico, producing a number of striking paintings of the pueblos at Acoma and Laguna. In Basket of Good Fortune the performer presents symbols of wishing good fortune for the New Year. An attractive sidebar, the artist who created this painting was in her 90s while she painted it. She was also a talented paper-cut artist, which is the art of cutting paper into complicated designs. The power of the paper cut medium is seen in her painting work of art.

Gifted Shell Paintings

These shells are all glued level, not overlapping like on the frame above. We could have painted the wood heart plate before we began, but chose not to. The wood shape came with a clear hanger attached at top center, so we just left it on.

Birds in Oil Paintings

Passionately to color and am particularly lured by simple yet sensual organic forms and the exciting realm of vibrant colors, shapes and textures found in nature. My work is collected in a very conscientious and exacting process. Color is built up from the full spectrum, foundation with violets, then blues, etc., and finally highlighting to bird hints of original color showing through. The glazing process is repeated to distill glow.
